I'm especially fond of the Consumer Confidence methodology used by the Conference Board survey dudes. Those of us not given to tired euphemisms call it the Wishful Thinking, Self-fulfilling Prophecy and Gullibility Index. For short: The Rube Quotient.

Yeah, back when I was an Eagle Scout Mormon Wall Street Catamite, my Rube Quotient clocked in at a high of somewhere near 92, maybe 93. Now it's a more manageable 90 points lower.
