We Are Expending Every Effort To Resolve The Situation

(Note: Someone in Iraq passed the memo below to Pat Lang a while back. It's announcing menu changes for the duration. Not to belittle the efforts of people who risk lives to get food shipments through difficult areas, but somehow I bet Halliburton is paid the same for a meal whether it's good or not. A bunch of bridges have been blown, including one on the main road to Kirkuk 100 miles north of the Green Zone, where the sheep above resides. In Baghdad, trucks are now only allowed over 2 of the 13 bridges which remain standing. The sheep says, "No shortages on the Tigris here, son, and the bridges are fine!")
NUMBER: 007-110 SUBJECT: Theater-Wide Delay in Food Deliveries DATE: 05-21-07

TO: All Mission Employees

Due to a theater-wide delay in food delivery, menu selections will be limited for the near future. While every effort will be made to provide balanced meals, it may not be possible to offer the dishes you are used to seeing at each meal. Fresh fruits and salad bar items will also be severely limited or unavailable.

Although we are expending every effort to resolve the situation, should the food convoys be delayed further, DFACs will be required to serve MREs for at least one meal out of the day.

We regret any inconvenience this may cause but we ask for your understanding of the situation.

Drafted: MGT/E. Butler
