Party Differences & Driving Influences

Bush one hour before his TARP speech:
In the theater, the president was clearly confused about how the government would buy these securities. He repeated his belief that the government was going to “buy low and sell high,” and he still didn’t understand why we hadn’t put that into the speech like he’d asked us to. When it was explained to him that his concept of the bailout proposal wasn’t correct, the president was momentarily speechless. He threw up his hands in frustration.

“Why did I sign on to this proposal if I don’t understand what it does?” he asked.
Excerpted from Matt Latimer's upcoming "insider" book about the Bush presidency.

wow. that's quite a sob story from matt latimer. he doesn't seem disillusioned so much as disappointed that it all didn't work out swell for his team. i guess it's hard work screwing teh american people. poor george bush with his crocs and messy hair. how much more can one guy take? (sounds like he took some medication after his nap.) poor josh bolton dealing with nancy pelosi. definitely hell on earth. thank goodness for their great paychecks, which i'm sure made it all worthwhile. and the book royalties, those will be helpful too as matt recovers from this grueling experience writing speeches for clown-breath.
